IPL 2022 Success explained in next 90 seconds

Here we have re-collected all the details of the Indian T20 Premier League, let’s dive in and enjoy the quick throwback of IPL 2022.

Unexpected moments

This season was different from the rest of the seasons. Began with the addition of 2 new franchises GT and LSG, dividing the teams into Group A and B, changing the format of playing, and many more. Again, many players got a chance to unleash their true potential and cricket got many new names to raise the level of the game.

  • Player Retention – The most shocking player retention was of players;  Umraan Malik by SRH in Rs.4 crore, Abdul Samad by SRH in 4 crores, and Mohmmad Siraj by RCB in 7 crores.
  • Player’s Injuries – Several players were retained by the IPL franchise with huge investments and players end up quitting the game in the middle due to injuries. Pat Cummins (KKR) quit the game due to a hip injury, Ravindra Jadeja (CSK) has to drop off the game due to a rib injury, and Adam Milne (CSK) has to leave the game in the first match itself due to a hamstring injury, Surya Kumar Yadav (MI) and Tymal Mills (MI) also dropped off the game.

Team Formations

CSK’s most expensive player Deepak Chahar missed more than half of the season due to a quadriceps injury. Chahar is not only a good pacer, but his batting skills might also have brought depth to the team’s batting lineup.

Jofra Archer was ruled out from the whole season due to injury. However, the injury of Surya Kumar Yadav also affected the Mumbai Indians in many ways. The unavailability of Suryakumar will weaken the batting lineup of the team.

Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, and Kyle Mayers will not be available for at least the first four games due to the national commitment. Losing Marcus made the team handicapped for the first few games. But eventually, LSG aced the whole season.

CSK, LSG, and PBKS had the strongest batting lineup, whereas DC, RCB, and MI had the strongest bowling lineup.

Champions in the bottom

This season was quite shocking for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings fans. Mumbai Indians have won the title 5 times and CSK won it 4 times. But, this season was not theirs. They were the most underperformed teams and even failed to make their position in the top 5. This season is ruled by the new franchises Gujarat Titans and Lucknow SuperGiants.

A grade Player's performance

Dhoni smashed 21 runs off 8 balls, including 1 four and 2 sixes resulting in winning the match against DC. As Jadeja was leading the team; the team failed to perform well in the early matches. Under Dhoni Captaincy, the team won 3 out of 5 matches. In the same match, Dhoni became the second captain to score 6000 runs in T20 after Virat Kohli. However, CSK fans are very disappointed with the performance of the whole team this season.

RCB and Virat fans were expecting a stellar performance from the Run Machine named Virat. But, he failed everyone with his poor form. He only made 341 runs in 16 matches at an average rate of 22.73 with a strike rate of 115.99.

Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians, disappointed fans like no one else. The team had hardly won 4 matches out of 14 and lost 10 matches. Rohit Sharma was trolled by fans for his poor performance. His tally of runs is 155 in 9 innings with an average strike rate of 123.
